Our Pack participates in the Segment Patch Program.  Segment Patches are small patches with simple designs on them.  They are sewn next to each other around a center circle patch. 

Segment patches can be awarded for anything a Scout does with his Den or Pack.  Scouts earn a patch every time they wear their uniform to school on the day of a Pack Meeting.  They also get a patch for attending a Pack Meeting, and attending Pack outings.  There are also other places that will give out a segment patch for attending, such as Brickworld.

How you display these patches is extremely flexible.  The BSA sells a red, felt vest called a "Brag Vest".  You can put all your temporary patches on this vest.  You can also make your own vest.  Some people choose to put the patches on a blanket - something the boys can take camping with them. Our Leader for Den 1 also makes custom bags that patches can be sewn onto.

The center circle patch can be anything - a patch you have from something you've done.  The Northeast Illinois Council also sells two different patches that represent the Council your Scout belongs too that can be used as the center patch.  You could also leave the center empty.
