Klondike Derby

The Klondike Derby is a yearly outdoor winter event for Boy Scouts.  Troop 3 invites our Webelos (4th/5th graders) to join them.

At the Klondike Derby, Scouts decorate a sled according to that year's theme.  They go around to various stations and complete activities for points.  Awards are given out for Best Decorated Sled and Fastest Iditarod Race.  A trophy is awarded to the team with the highest points.  Scouts camp overnight at Camp Sol Crown in Wisconsin.  This event is a wonderful team building exercise.

Adults are not allowed to assist - points will be deducted if an adult assists.  However, adults are required for supervision and YPT.

The 2014 theme was Star Wars: The Ice World of Hoth. Activities included:
Iditarod Race & Obstacle Course
Fire Starting (Scouts having start a fire with limited materials)
Tomahawk Throw
Orienteering
Log Sawing
Knots
Group Skiing
Shelter Building
Gold Nugget Toss

There is a small fee and advanced registration is required.

The program for 2014 is attached.
